Practice moving on the thin slats, try something new and have fun on Swiss trails and tracks: all this is possible at the SWICA Nordic Days. These cross-country ski trial days for children and adults take place all over Switzerland. During the season 2014/15, 3’060 participants took part at one of the SWICA Nordic Days, 62 percent of which participated for the first time. The participants’ feed-back regarding teaching was very good. 95 percent said to intend practicing cross-country skiing also in future. In the season 2015/16, Nordic trial days for beginners will take plays in 16 regions all over Switzerland. The Swiss cross-country ski schools will be pleased to welcome you at any time on cross-country skis.

The project Dario Cologna Fun Parcours is an offer for schools. Classes will get any equipment as well as competent instruction by an expert to make first experiences on cross-country skis. At the end of every trial lesson, participants take part in the Swisscom sprint. The winning classes of the winter can win great prizes. Participation is free of charge. Last season, 12’630 children took part in that project, which means a new record. The stock of equipment, i.e. skis, boots, poles as well as exercise material is placed on four trailers in total. These Road-Teams are in use all winter all over Switzerland. Loipen Schweiz and Swiss-Ski have financed one of the two new trailers. According to Gary Furrer, director of the department Popular Sport at Swiss-Ski, the equipment trailers are booked by the organizers already in spring for the upcoming winter. “It is important for us, that all venues host a ski club or cross-country ski school, where children interested in cross-country skiing have the opportunity to practice skiing. We dream about winning a future Swiss top athlete out of this project” says Furrer.
